Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Police report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior political figure commented the incident made him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
